What's the best number of people for a party?
For Children's parties we recommend between 4 and 8 children. For adult parties, we recommend a minimum of 4 people and a max of 12 adults.
What's the minimum age for a kids party?
We recommend the children be aged 8 and up. We've found that any younger than this and most children find it a little hard to keep up with the singing.
What song can we record?
You can choose any popular song that you like! We can source backing tracks for practically every popular song ever recorded. Perhaps you really want to go for it and try Whitney Houston?! Or maybe you just love Kpop Demon Hunters or Taylor Swift? Or maybe you're a head banger and want to try your hand at Metallica? You're the boss!
Can you advise us what song would work best?
Absolutely. For children's parties in particular, we find some songs work much better than others. Try and avoid very ‘wordy’ songs for children as some of the younger ones may find those difficult. If in doubt, make a shortlist of your favourite songs and let us know so we can recommend which one(s) would work best.
Can we bring our own food and drink?
Yes! We just ask that it is kept in the lounge area, away from the studio equipment. You're very welcome to bring along anything you like. We provide some complimentary snacks such as crisps, popcorn and cakes, along with soft drinks (generally something like Capri Sun for younger children, J20 for older children and adults). We also provide a glass of bubbly upon arrival (non alcoholic in the case of the children's parties… of course!). Birthday cake is always welcome!
Can we bring decorations and props?
Yes! Bring along whatever you like. But in all honesty, don't stress about bringing loads of stuff. The people taking part in the party will be totally engrossed in what we're doing so please don't worry about bringing extra activities as you most likely won't need it. We've had parents bring along party games in the past, and most of the time, they get to the end of the party and realise there really was no need.
How does the Karaoke room work?
Once we've warmed up our voices, we will split the party in to groups of 2 or 3. The first group will head to the studio to record their vocals, and the rest can remain in the Karaoke room and request absolutely any song they wish. A member of our team will be overseeing the Karaoke and will make sure everyone gets a fair crack at it!
I'm a parent, and I'm worried about the children arguing about which group they get put in.
This can happen, and so we always recommend that you allow our team to pick the groups to avoid any arguments! Of course, this is up to you. But having done this for many years now, we feel this works out best.
I'm worried one of the group won't want to sing.
We get it, some children or even adults are just there to be polite and have no interest in singing. We will always encourage people to sing and get involved, and we aim to make the event as stress and anxiety free as possible. I myself (Dan) have a son with ADHD and my wife is a primary school teacher. So we have a lot of experience dealing with emotions and confidence. Whatever happens, the children or adults will have a lovely time, regardless of how involved they wish to be. In the past, we've had both children and adults simply playing a tambourine along to the song if they really have no interest in singing. It's absolutely fine.
What happens if someone makes a mistake?
Don't stress! You can do it again! The magic of modern recording means mistakes can be fixed very easily.
Do you have auto-tune?!
Yes!
Someone in the group has an allergy.
No problem, just let us know of any allergies as far in advance as you can and we'll make sure we cater for that.
Where can we park?
You can park directly outside the studio for free. There's space for about 4 cars.
Can other parents stay and watch?
They can, although we wouldn't recommend it. We find that the smaller the number of people in the studio, the more relaxed, calm and enjoyable the event is for everyone. We would strongly recommend that just the parents of the Birthday child stick around for the event.
